A Country Girl at Heart with a Passion for Dogs
I am, Carla Judson, a country girl at heart, and living on a farm has been a dream come true. Didn’t always live in the country, didn’t always have 18 pets, didn’t always spend 7 hours a day outside doing farm work, but what I did have was a strong love and connection to nature and all the beautiful things it brings to our lives. The animals, big and small, that make up my world have brought me to the here and now. It is a life I love; it is a life I was destined for.
My Family
My husband Ken, my two daughters, Kathryn and Natalee share our home with many special pets. My husband, a small animal veterinarian, whom I’ve been married to for over 40 years has exhibited his deep love and commitment to the safety, health, and well-being of all animals. It is this that has given me a deep appreciation and passion for pets and what they bring to our lives and how special they become to us. Dog breeding has been a very natural step for me to take in a lifetime of commitment to the excellence of animal husbandry.
The Journey
It has been a journey – married for 40 years, and raised 2 successful girls that I am so proud of, Kathryn, an attorney in Atlanta, GA, and Natalee, a recent DVM graduate from LSU continuing her love and passion for farm animals.
Many professions have made their way through my journey as well—made some ice cream, decorated some cakes, groomed a lot of dogs, sold a lot of beach towels and bathing suits in an oceanside specialty store, and owned 2 luxury boarding kennels, one in Connecticut and another in Tampa, Florida. With all this, it is safe to say, I’m happy – I’m home on the farm doing what I love. Doodles are special, they are hybrid dogs. They are a careful combination of two pedigreed dogs combined, to give you the best of both breeds, a doodle!
Breeding Dogs Is Not an Easy Task...
It takes an extensive amount of time, patience, and expense to produce a hybrid dog that is beautiful, loving, healthy, smart, shed-resistant, and has sound confirmation. We, at the Doodle Farm, take years to evaluate our breeding dogs. We take great care in choosing the parents of your future puppies. We do health testing, we evaluate temperament, general health, and mostly, confirmation and good physical soundness. What we do at Red Barn Doodle Farm is a mixture of love, science, and nature!
Our Commitment and Mission
We have never been able to imagine a home without a dog. We try, at the Doodle Farm to lay the very best groundwork for your puppy so it can be an outstanding pet for you and your family. We focus on producing healthy and happy puppies with loving temperaments. They are wonderful with children as well as other pets. Doodles shed minimally and can be tolerated by people with allergies, they are gentle and friendly.
