"Fly Away Home" Dedication

“Fly Away Home,” yes, it’s a bird movie, actually a movie about homeless geese.  This is a very special movie I adore watching.  This movie has it all—wonderful music and beautiful scenery.  It’s informational and entertaining, but best of all, it’s a true story.  You must make a batch of popcorn and enjoy this movie; it will not disappoint.

Birds are unique, beautiful animals.  I decided to name this litter “Fly Away Home” due to all the amazing South Carolina birds that inhabit our property, especially the songbirds.  I sit on our patio and all I hear are the beautiful vocalizations and songs from our local bird species.

Northern Mockingbirds and Carolina Chickadees recite their songs all day long.  It is truly music to my ears.  Mockingbirds can learn up to 200 songs during their lifetime, and their impressive vocalizations can be heard late into the evening.  Singing is a hobby for these beautiful birds, and they do it well.  We also have many other local inhabitants that our cat “Tiger” loves to chase around the yard.  We see many Doves, Blue Jays, and Northern Cardinals, which are stunning to look at as they flutter and play over our backyard and horse paddocks.  What amazes me are all the beautiful nests, intricate and well-made, where these birds raise their young.  I feel privileged that these amazing birds call our home a perfect nesting place for their young, preparing them, in time, to Fly Away Home!

Nature, what beauty and enjoyment it gives us!  The amazing bird—what would we ever do without their mesmerizing songs?  We are lucky to share our lives with them.

So, with that said, watch this great movie and take time when you step outside to listen and watch these beautiful creatures we call birds.

Enjoy, Carla Judson
